I've got an older model GQF Sportsman 1202 Cabinet incubator. It has an Electronic Thermostat with wafer backup. Automatic turner, forced air, and hatch tray. Everything works good, and I have replaced all the seals, added a plexiglass viewing window in the front door, It does not leak. Also included is the Thermometer and wet bulb hygrometer. I do believe I have all the parts for the Automatic watering system also. Asking $400.00 firm for everything, pickup only

Spring is in the air! Finally some color starting to show up on the ground. These are our St' Patty's day flowers, not green but still pretty!

Spring also means that driving a car without an AC and a window that won't roll down, it's time to fix the car......*sigh* Their is always something wrong with this thing......can't wait to get my 2011 Camaro 2SS!

Dairy Goats and Kids!

I've slowly been working on the website. It may be a few more days before I publish the finished site. I am also working on getting better pictures of my artwork, so that may take a while also.

On other news, the Dairy goats are in full milk and kids are jumping all over the barn! I love kidding season! Currently we still have the three kids from the earlier post. But there are still two more does due to kid, in mid spring, early summer. I've included some pictures of the goats for you to enjoy.

She has such wonderful milk stand etiquette and she is such a dream to milk.

My little Romeo, 3 weeks old. He is such a looker, and with his sire's wonderful temperament. If anyone is interested in a buck let me know since he wont stay a buck for much longer. He can be registered. $200 buck, or he will make a wonderful pack goat, $75 whether.

Lady Juliet, at 3 weeks old. I love this little doe, she has such a sweet personality, like her mother. I plan on keeping this doe for now, she will be registered.

This is Apache, my harness goat prodigy. I think he has the potential to be a wonderful harness goat! He has such a thick neck and strong front end. If he doesn't find a home soon I will start him in training, he is a whether. He is currently $50. But as his training starts the price will go up. Can also be a pack goat, already crosses water, comes when called and is working on leash training. Very Smart and Huge!

I like to get all the goat kids, pack goats or not, used to water. It's so much easier to walk a goat from one place to the other if they don't fear water puddles or creek crossings.

Wow! It's been a long time since I posted anything on my blog. Sorry to all my readers, I will try and keep up with it more.

As you all know I sold out of all my chickens a couple months ago. It wasn't an easy decision but it was necessary. All the stock is sold and if anyone is interested in some Black, Blue and Splash Leghorns I can get you in touch with the breeders I sold my stock to.

We now have our first batch of kids born on the 20th and the 22nd of February. DeeDee gave birth to a single buck kid on the 20th. He will be castrated and is for sale as a pack or harness goat. We named him "Apache" he is light bay with small white markings on his face and girth. 1/2 Oberhasli, 1/4 Alpine and 1/4 Kiko.
Camille my Oberhasli doe gave birth on the 22nd to twins, a buck and a doe. The buck kid will be castrated at the end of the month, so if anyone wants a breeding buck let me know and I will get his papers. The doe kid will be registered and as of right know is not for sale.

I was walking around today looking at all the flowers only to find more bird nest then anything. Here are some pictures from around the farm.

Eastern Screech Owls

A couple days ago my grandfather called my mother, saying that he had something in his tree. He wasn't sure what it was and thought it might be a cat. After some investigation my mother found it to be a eastern screech owl.

The next day I did some investigation of my own and managed to capture a couple pictures of this red morph eastern screech owl in its hole.

At first he wouldn't come out, but with some calls I managed to get him to peek his head out for me.

They are a lot smaller than I thought. I've herd them before but never seen one, especially this close.

Kind of a sinister look here.

Maybe it does look like a cat from a distance.

Just barely make him out in this one.

This morning I went back over to my grandfathers to see if I could see him again when to my amazement, a foot bellow the hole was another eastern screech owl, gray morph! I can only assume they are a breeding pair, and hopefully they will use this hole as a nest! It's been several years since I've heard them in this area.

If I hadn't been looking for the red one, I probably would never had spotted this one. They blend in so well!

Spring is finally in the air! Flowers are blooming, chicks are hatching, and baby goats are here. Hatching is already done for this spring and we have one more dairy goat doe due on the 25th. After such a long cold winter the warm weather is much appreciated and enjoyed. So for you enjoyment here are some pictures from around the farm.

Ready to Start Hatching!

Its almost time to start hatching! For this year I have made some upgrades to my Incubator, including a new viewing window, new door seal and a new Thermometer/Hygrometer. Hopefully if all goes accordingly I should have my first batch set by the 22nd of December. The hens are starting to lay, slowly. The weather isn't helping matters, it's been cold barely getting out of the teen's at night and 30's during the day. Not good temperatures for egg laying.

I'm still taking orders for the Spring season in White Leghorn, LB Dutch and Black Leghorn. I should have shipping available in the spring.

We have two due dates for our Dairy does this year. Our first doe DeeDee will be due on February 22nd-25th. Our second doe Gabby on March 25th-28th. Both does are breed to Jack our Oberhasli buck. Keep an eye out for baby goat pictures in February and March!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

I woke up this morning with this beautiful Dutch chick! A little story behind this chick: I set four eggs under a silkie hen on the 2nd of Nov. Hoping that with some luck the eggs would hatch. One of those eggs was a pullet egg, and I know most people don't hatch from pullet eggs but I was trying to set as many as possible. Well the eggs were due to hatch on the 22-23rd of Nov. Unfortunately, the silkie hen stopped setting on the 20th day, leaving me to put the eggs in my Incubator. I waited and waited and on the 24th day I decided they weren't going to hatch. So I started to pull the eggs out when I heard it! The eggs were peeping!

Well, needless to say sometime this morning this little chick hatched against all odds, being from the pullet egg. Amazing!

Not only did I get a beautiful baby chick, I also had to make a run to the store for some Ice and what did I see in the Car Wash?! 2010 CAMARO!!!!

So much to be greatfull for today!

I finally got an Oberhasli Doe! This is Camille, she is an 3 month old American Oberhasli. I purchased her from Indigo Run Oberhasli, the same breeder I purchased our buck Jack from.

Here is our Alpine/Kiko doe, DD and our Alpine/Oberhasli doe, Gabby. I'm really excited to breed both these does this year.

Here are the English Angora rabbits. We know have 7, a doe, buck and five kits.

We have Horses!

We have horses!
We had been looking into getting some horses for a long time, but the price of getting good stock was just beyond our reach. I had taken ridding lessons as a child, and my sister is currently. We both love horses and have never had any of our own. A couple of weeks ago we got an offer to take some horses, since the owner needed to reduce the herd. She said that they would be free to a good home. I figured, "free"?! Meaning something is probably wrong with them.....lol. But to my amazement they are both sound and quality horses. The Dark Bay gelding is a Quarter Horse/Thoroughbred cross, and the chestnut mare is a Quarter Horse. The gelding is very tall, I would say close to 16hh and very gentle. The mare is shorter probably 15hh but very smart, and a lot of cow horse potential. Both are still green but are learning very quickly. We are sending the mare off for professional training in August and the gelding will follow after.

Here is Jack, our Oberhasli Dairy Buck. He was curious as to what we were doing with the horses and I couldn't resist a picture.

Yesterday I was out feeding the chickens some scraps, when I found a pair of mating Monarch butterflies. I got a couple of good pictures considering the camera I'm using is not very good. (Never by a Kodak). While I was in the garden a female Ruby Throated Hummingbird landed not 5 inches from me on some cattle wire. I didn't have time to get a picture though........*sigh*

Flood Plains!

Our lovely flood plain! We had a nasty storm come through on July 11, 2009. A local town had some minor damage due to a tornado. The main reason for the flooding besides the rain was that our culvert got clogged and therefore the water backed up. Thank Goodness there was only minor damage and loss.

*sigh* I hate our Culvert.

Dad's truck, it moved forward about 3 inches.

There is a driveway somewhere.

Stupid weather, my car moved 6 inches forward. If it had got any higher it would have ended up in the culvert in front of it.

Mom's suburban......it didn't go anywhere...lol

It flooded 6 inches in the barn, all our hay was on palates, the bottom row got wet. All the stalls are wet and will have to be cleaned, Grr

Yesterday, Governor Strickland proposed a $200 million dollar budget cut for public libraries. We are already operating on a severely cut budget. If this cut passes, all branch libraries will be shut down, all programs will end, the bookmobile will cease deliveries, public internet access will be diminished, and the heartache continues. Of course, I am upset, because I need a job, but equally as important: I love what I do, and I believe in what I do. That is why I need your help. I need for you to contact Governor Strickland and oppose these cuts.

Some Updates!

I know, It's been a while since I posted....bad me!

We have baby BUNNIES! To be specific we have five English Angora Kits born June 6th. Two are Black and Three are Red. We will know the exact color as their coats come in. I will try and get pictures up as soon as I can find my battery charger for my camera....lol.

I have sold our Dairy Doe Impala, and my Harness goat Samson. I also have our doe Sassy for sale currently. We are thinning out the flock to make room for pure breed Oberhasli and Alpine dairy goats. I'm very excited and look forward to starting my Oberhasli herd.

I have hatched off most everything for the spring/summer. In the fall I might hatch some more for the spring shows. There are several birds available, including:

2010 Chevy Camaro!

I am totally obsessed with the new 2010 Chevy Camaro! Although I will never be able to own one, I still think they are the best looking car on the road! So far I have only seen one in real life and that was a drive by at a local car dealership. Living in rural southern Ohio, I figured it would be at least three to four months before I would actually see one on the road......boy was I wrong!

I'm really a bad Blogger....lol. Well, I took some pictures from around the farm today. Hopefully these will help make up for the lack of posts.
Not much has been going on around the farm lately, mostly hatching, hatching and more hatching. I have out five batches of chicks right know, and more on the way. I'm really working on getting the black and blue Leghorns out. I'm also trying to hatch out some LB Dutch chicks, since the Eastern Dutch National is going to be at the Ohio National this year!
I've been working on some drawings, nothing major right know. I would like the get started on a series of drawings I have in mind. It would be a series of Secretariat the race horse....but I haven't really started on that yet.
I would also like to mention that the movie "Star Trek" that is out right know is by far the best movie I have seen this year! The graphics were awesome, the acting and story line was very close to the original TV series. Not only was the movie the best, but the previews were amazing! Previews for G.I. Joe, Terminator Salvation, and Transformers 2! All of the previews looked awesome. So if you can get a chance to go and see Star Trek in theaters, it will be well worth your time.......LOL! I know I'm a GEEK!

The whole Nano tank, 20 Gal. 56 Watt lighting. It has been up for three months. The water, fish and rock work have been set up for a year, in a separate tank, we just upgraded to a better system. So in whole the tank is a year and three months old.

The Irises have bloomed, theses are the Giant ones. We also have three other colors that haven't bloomed yet, they will be dark purple and gold and maroon.

Its been a while since I have posted anything, I am a bad blogger....lol. Well, really there isn't much to update on. I have set 37 eggs in the incubator due to hatch the first week in April. I have a silkie hen sitting on eggs that are due to hatch next monday. I've been working on building a new website, since me and Yahoo Geocities havn't been getting along. So I went to a new server, http://webs.com and so far they have worked out very well. The website is almost finished so I will post the link to it.

Here are some more pictures taken today.

Since the ice storm, we have been slowly working on cleaning up the branches. Due to the fact it is so muddy we didn't want to get the 4-wheeler out, it would just make a mess. So we decided that Samson my pack/harness whether could handle it. So we cut down the branches so he could handle them and he has managed to clean up about 50% of the mess so far. We still have some more to clean up on the back of the property, but the majority of the front yard is clean. When we get all the big limb cleared out, we will hook him up to the wagon and load the smaller limbs into on it. He does enjoy working, since it keeps him busy and out of trouble.

I found this lovely addition to my car Sunday morning. Turns out someone had hit my parked car at work Saturday. I didn't see this then due to the fact it was dark when I got off. Just lovely isn't it, although I shouldn't complain it could have been much worse, its just aggravating.

"In a rush to implement rules before there was a new administration, USDA published a notice of rule making that makes NAIS mandatory for four disease programs. Before you say, "hey this isn't me" realize that if they do it for cattle, goats, sheep, and swine, then poultry (as in NPIP) aren't far behind. It's true they're not talking about micro chipping chickens (now) but they have come up with hair-brained ideas like hanging id tags off metal loops threaded through the neck skin of day-old birds. No I am *not* kidding! That was a USDA vet!

Well, I finally got all my pictures took today.....its was fairly warm today, so It made taking pictures actually....fun....LOL! Anyways, here are the pictures I promised.

This is my Dads (and Mine :-P ) Law Grey Game Trio. The Cock was recently dubbed and he is now healed. I plan on entering him in the Game show in Lucasville this Spring, if I can keep his feathers in condition that long. He can really be a pain sometimes, but he is really a beautiful rooster.

The hens seem to be plucking him on his neck for some reason, Its healing now.

I recently purchased a GQF 1202 Incubator for $300.00 used. Its 10 years old, but in good working condition. It took me a while to get it cleaned up really good, and the hatching tray still needs cleaned. But It's almost ready to start hatching, I need to purchase egg trays and a hygrometer.

Cloud or Alpine/Sannen Dairy Doe, gave birth to twins on Jan 26th, the day before the Ice Storm. She had, one Doe named Sassafras and one Buck named Leo. The Doeling, seems to be naturally Polled, meaning she has no horns. This trait is very uncommon in goats. So It will be interesting to see if she does eventually get horns. The twins look almost Identical in color and size, the Buck is a little bigger.

The kid on the Left is the doe and the kid on the right is the buck.

I also took some pictures of our 10 Gallon Saltwater Fish Tank. There is one Maroon Clown Fish, one Green Chromis Damsel Fish, and one Rock Hopper Fish. There is also Green and White Sponges, a Soft Coral and some Red Legged Crabs.

Ice Storm 2009.

You may have noticed I haven't been online much here lately. Well, reason being I have been without power for three days, having it turned on yesterday afternoon. I don't know how many of you remember the ice storm of 2003, but it was very nasty. We didn't have electric for 5 days that year.....

This storm wasn't as bad due to the fact, most of the old weak trees got "weeded" out from the first ice storm. I have included some pictures from midday Wednesday, right after the freezing rain stopped and it started snowing again. The main concern was the snow putting more weight on the already burdened trees. Luckily we only lost a couple of trees and a dozen branches and limbs. The cleaning up hasn't been to much fun, the ground is still ice. I have had Samson (my harness goat) pulling limbs the past couple days, since I have been unable to convince the 4-wheeler to start.

I work at the Library and due to the weather we had two snow days. This helped because there was no way I was going to get out of the driveway with my Grand Prix. The 4-wheel drive Suburban had some difficulty. It took me three hours yesterday to get all the ice off my car, and the limb that had fallen on it removed. The limb left some nasty gouges in my hood, but thank goodness that was all.

Other than that, not much to report. Cloud our other dairy doe, gave birth the day before the ice storm, with twins. A doe named Sassafras and a buck named ??? He doesn't have a name yet...lol. I will try to get some pictures of them tomorrow if my camera is charged by then. I will also try and get some updated pictures of Impalas twins.

I had a very um.....interesting day yesterday! I thought I would share my experience with you all.

It all started when I got off work at 8:00pm from work. The rain and ice had started coming down around 4:30pm. Then the news started reporting many accidents, esp. on the overpasses. I was really hoping that they would let us off early so we could avoid the worse weather....no such luck. On a usual day it only takes me about 30 minutes to get home, if that. I only have two different ways to get home, one is taking all the major highways and the other is to take all the back roads. On a day when the weather is bad I always take the highways just to avoid the slick back roads.

I had decided that I would take the highway even though the overpasses were still closed due to accidents. It would probably not be very bad on the highway......RIGHT! I get off work and headed to the gas station, since I was running on fumes. I put 5 dollars in which gave me 4.4 gallons....lol. I about fell on my but just filling up with gas, the concrete was so slick! I have never really experienced Icy road conditions since I am still a new driver.

I managed to merge onto the highway doing about 20mph. About three cars in front of me a driver looses control of his car and ends up nose firs on the side of the embankment. He was not getting out of that. So I started slowing down, finally realizing the roads were nothing more than a sheet of ice! I fishtailed a could of times, but managed to keep the car under control, when I came to a stop behind a very long line of cars.

I sat in that line for about 2 and a half hours, moving little to none. Turns out there was another accident on the overpass so there was no getting through. I ended up turning my car off and sitting there waiting, it was not fun! I was hungry, I also really needed to use the restroom.....lol.

I finally got moving around 10:50pm. Although the traffic was still heavy the roads were not as bad as they were earlier. So I managed a steady speed of 40mph on the highway. I finally made it into the driveway around 11:15pm. Safe and sound...thank the Lord!

This is buy far the most stress full driving situation I have ever been in, but I was a good learning experience!

DRILL PRESS:

Cleans paint off bolts and then throws them somewhere under

ELECTRIC HAND DRILL:
Normally used for spinning pop rivets in their
holes until you die of old age.

SKILL SAW:

VISE-GRIPS:
Generally used after pliers to completely round off bolt
heads. If nothing else is available, they can also be used to transfer
intense welding heat to the palm of your hand.

OXYACETYLENE TORCH:
Used almost entirely for lighting various flammable
objects in your shop on fire. Also handy for igniting the grease inside
the wheel hub out of which you want to remove a bearing race.

I don't know If I have mentioned it or not. I think I did. Well, anyways.....we have English Angora Rabbits. There not mine but my moms, and she has a pair. I don't have a picture of the female but here is a picture of our male. He is the most friendly and softest rabbit I have ever seen! I can't wait till spring when I can see them in their full fur.

I plan on doing a post tomorrow with a lot of pictures from around the farm. I hope to get some good pictures to add to the website to update it a little. I think its time for some new pictures.

I plan to measure the length of the main sickles this year once he has finished out his molt. Hey everyone, I have an interesting blog today. I have a two, almost three year old SC White Leghorn Bantam Cock. I have used him the past two years in my breeding pens, and was planning on using him this year also. Well, he molted started molting around the end of September. I didn't start noticing anything unusual until about Thanksgiving. I started to notice that his tail feathers were beginning to drag the ground. I though maybe they were just wet or dirty making them heave and drag the ground. But when I started looking over the bird he was quite clean. I also examined the shafts of the main sickle feathers and notice that they were still blood feathers! Meaning they are still growing. This is very unusual, and I don't know when they will stop. He is going on three months since his molt. I find this very interesting since he has never had this same feature in the past years molts. I have some pictures here of the bird, and I tried to show the length. I will also try and get some pictures of the shafts to show how they are still growing.

You can see his full son in the background at 10 months old. He dosen't have very long sickle feathers either.

So If anyone has any clues as to why this is happening let me know. I am very curios to see how long they will actually grow!

First Day of Work!

Well, ya'll. I had my first day of work today. I got a part time job at a local Library branch as a front desk clerk. I have been unemployed since October of last year, so having a paycheck again is going to be really nice.

They day went by very slowly, with a lot of training and paperwork. Surprisingly, it's not a difficult job, just a lot of technical terms to memorize, and a lot of policy information to memorize. It will be an easy job, compared to my last job, when I get settled in real good. So, as of right know, I am employed.....lol.

As for the chickens. The are all doing good, a few frostbit combs but otherwise healthy. I had to move my breeder cocks into my hen barn in order to keep them warm. The Breeder barrels just weren't going to be warm enough for this year. I have winterized all but one of the coops so everyone is staying nice and warm. I am getting about 10-12 eggs a day, which in the winter is very good. My moms big Langshans are giving about 1-3 eggs every other day in a flock of about 8, so right know my chickens are producing the eggs we eat....lol. I'm already getting close to working on my breeding pairs, and getting the breeding barrels ready. I still have to buy a new incubator for the year, waiting for my first paycheck....HEHE! I plan on doing a fairly big hatch next year, about 50-80 Leghorns and 30-40 Dutch. Due to the loose of our main Silkie breeding cock, we will have to hold off on the Silkies for beginning of the year.

The goats are also doing very good this year. They are handling the winter very well, due to the fact they are slightly fat.....! (Notice the slight sarcasm there!) We breed two of our does this year, and so far we think they are both pregnant. We really won't know for sure if they are until about January or Feb. Most likely we will be selling everything this year from our does. So keep a close watch out on the sale listing next spring.

Well, the Ohio National was a great show, with over 5,300 birds and 440 exhibitors! I had a blast, I got to talk to all my chicken friends and make some new ones. I also look some pictures, sorry about the quality, my camera is a pain in the you know what. All the pictures are mixed up, Blogger is bad about arranging the photos, it takes forever. This is for the Christian Americans

I'm writing this for all Christian Americans who plan to vote in this yeas election. I'm not going to judge anyone or put anyone down about there decision. The decision you make is yours, and yours alone. I just want to put into perspective for everyone, what America has become and what is should still stand for. I know that just about everyone is sick and tired of this election and doesn't want to read or hear any more about it. I understand this, and I couldn't agree more. I just wanted to say this, before the election is over so that I know I have tried to open the hearts and minds of the Christian Americans living and voting in this election.

It has been many, many years since we have had a president that would stand up for the rights, and beliefs of America. Every president has had his mistakes, that has offended one side or the other. You can't please everyone, but the difference's is what makes America what it is. I get tired of people, saying they aren't voting for one party or another due to what the previous president and his party has done. The political parties have nothing to do with the personal beliefs and standings of a person. For instance, say I'm in party A and my best friend is in party B. Party A believes in eating only chicken, while party B believes in only eating beef. OK, now say, party "Member" A decides he likes to eat both beef and chicken, and the same with party "Member" B. They both can still be part of their political party but they can have their own personal beliefs that have nothing to do with what their party stands for. So many people or voting based on the candidates political party and not even paying attention to that persons personal beliefs and standings. I'm saying that before you make your decision on who your voting for, look deep into that persons beliefs. What does this person believe in, is he or she a Christian believer, devoted to the word of God and willing to stand up for Christian Americans? Does this person have a good political record, standing up for Christians? Such as being Pro-Life, Ant-Gay Rights, Pro-Constitution? These are things you should look at beyond the "political party" their associated with. I know that many of you are extremely devoted to your political party, and will vote for only that party. I'm simply asking you, as a Christian American to take a few minutes to do some research into the party candidates personal beliefs.

What America is know, is not what it was 100 years ago. Americans have become lazy and submissive, instead of standing up and defending their rights. When our ancestors came to searching for a new land. Why did we come searching for this new land? All though they had different beliefs, they all one thing in common. They all wanted Freedom! They wanted a place were they could live without tyranny or oppression from a tyrannical government. These people fought and died to give us the greatest gift a country can have. Freedom! The right to Free Speech, the right to Bear Arms, the Right to Religion, all established under the United States Constitution. The Constitution was the most important document of its time and was signed by good upstanding Christians. Unfortunately, the Constitution has become no more than a piece of paper. Politicians manipulate it to make it how they want it to be. Many people have forgotten or just don't know, what the Constitution stands for. We as Christian Americans have failed to uphold what we have fought so hard to obtain and sustain for our future children. What future is their know for the children of America? With the mess we have created and are creating, how are they to live with our gift of Freedom, if we don't act now. I'm asking that you also look into each political candidates standing here. Looking beyond the political party, what is the standing of the candidate when it comes to the Constitution? Do they uphold the Rights given to us according to the Constitution?

It can be hard sometimes, to really see what a candidate really stands for. They twist and contort words to make them sound truly better than they actually are. This is the problem with politicians, they can make the people believe what they want them to believe simply with manipulation of words. In order to understand what they really believe in, you have to look past the "Media", the "Press, the "Political Party" and look deep into that persons affairs, both present and past. Its our right as Christian Americans to know the truth, and although the truth can be hard to find, It can be found. I know many people that have looked deeper into a candidates standings, and it has changed their understanding of that person. If you will, just take a few minutes to look beyond all this political nonsense, deep into the candidates beliefs and standings.

No matter what decision you make, you will now know for sure who you are voting for and what he or she really stands for. I pray for everyone that they make the right decision on who should be next to lead our great country. Remember the future of America is in your hands.

I promise that this is my last political blog until the elections are over. I have done what I can to help open the eyes of my fellow Americans. The rest is in God's hands.

They had come for my wallet

Ohio National Updates!

I just recieved some information concerning the Ohio National Poultry Show.

The final count is 5,300 birds!
700 Call Ducks
1,250 Large Fowl
200 Geese

This is amazing! That is a lot of birds, esp. the call ducks! I am sooooooo excited already, I just hope that it is not going to be to cold. I hate washing birds in the cold, even in the workshop. But anyways, I look forward to seeing everyone there!

This week, I decided to do something different – my column is in video form. It's a newscast from a future we must make sure we never see. In it, you'll get a glimpse into our nation should Barack Obama be elected president – complete with the kinds of people he'll appoint and policies he'll enact based on Sen. Obama's real promises, positions, record and advisers. It would be comical if it weren't so scary. It is an eye-opening look at what the future could hold if we don't do everything we can to prevent it.

It's January 22, 2009, for 911 News, I'm Janet Porter. Two days after the inauguration of Barack Obama as president, the Middle Eastern reaction is the same. (VIDEO: TERRORISTS DANCING IN THE STREETS.) Obama campaign supporters from al-Qaida to Hamas to Hezbollah, to Islamic Jihad and the Muslim Brotherhood, continue to dance in the streets.

The "Death to America Coalition" released a statement: "We have not celebrated like this since 9/11!"

President Obama thanked campaign contributor William Ayers by appointing him as director of Homeland Security. Ayers, who bombed the Pentagon, and after 9/11 said he wished he could have done more, in a statement released today, said, "Now I can."

President Obama's close friend, mentor and pastor of 20 years, Jeremiah Wright, accepted the appointment to oversee the president's Faith Based Initiative program with the condition he would quit calling for God to damn America in public.

Obama made good on his long-held campaign promise dating back to 1996, when he told the "Independent voters of Illinois" he would outlaw all handguns. Reiterating his words on the campaign trail, Obama told gun owners to "quit being bitter and clinging to the Second Amendment of the Constitution."

President Obama followed through on his campaign promise to sign the "Freedom of Choice Act" as his first act in office. (VIDEO FROM PLANNED PARENTHOOD SPEECH MAKING PROMISE.) This effectively wipes out every pro-life law from parental notice to every ban on partial-birth abortion in all 50 states.

The only thing left of the abortion agenda not yet accomplished is the forced abortion policy of China.

It's been said the ACORN doesn't fall far from the tree, and with a message of gratitude for all their hard work in the elections, President Obama increased federal funding in his budget for the group best known for voting fraud. Senators were warned by ACORN if they voted against their increase in taxpayer funds, they would suffer an enormous backlash from deceased voters in their districts.

Obama said he misspoke when he referred to his health care plan as "socialized medicine," saying, "The term 'socialism' has been given a bad rap," and returned to the discussion of "government takeover of health care" and the fines for those who won't submit.

First lady Michelle Obama spent the day reading from her favorite books to elementary school children.

CHILDREN REPEAT: "Weather Underground."

MICHELLE: "They took action and stood up for what they believed (turning children's book page) in the Pentagon …"

As Senator John McCain predicted, the Russian aggression has moved to the Ukraine. Russian tanks rolled in and soldiers began to burn homes, schools and hospitals this morning. President Obama's immediate reaction was, once again, "We're not sure who's at fault, but this administration stands firm on the principle that we should all get along."

After he had time to talk to his 300 foreign affairs advisers, President Obama's official statement was: "Present!"

As was predicted, successful small businesses and job-providing corporations are closing their doors and moving overseas to escape the enormous tax hikes the Obama administration has imposed in an effort to use them to redistribute or "spread" the wealth. Another victim of this administration's class warfare is Joe the Plumber, who was made famous during the final presidential debate, who is moving from his beloved Holland, Ohio, to Holland. He said they're socialists too, but at least they're honest about it.

President Obama responded, "That's OK, I'll get him with the global tax I tried to pass in the Senate."

The Osama bin Laden video released yesterday has been shown to be authentic.

Not surprisingly, President Obama repeated the words he said in a February 27, 2007, interview with the New York Times that this call to allegiance to Allah as the "one true god" was "one of the prettiest sounds on earth."

Despite the rise in oil prices and the cry for offshore drilling, President Obama has once again appeased the environmentalists, saying he will not drill. The reaction from the Middle Eastern oil suppliers was as expected.

As promised, President Obama also overturned the Defense of Marriage Act, which was signed by President Bill Clinton. This is sure to spread homosexual marriage not just in Massachusetts, California and Connecticut, but to states like Pennsylvania, Florida and Colorado. President Obama, as he said during the campaign, opposes any efforts to protect marriage by state amendment. He also made good on his campaign promise to use the bully pulpit of the White House to place vulnerable orphan children in the homes of homosexual activists who demanded it during their Gay Pride Parade.

Conservative talk radio just became a thing of the past with President Obama answering the Democrat Congress' call for a gag rule on Rush Limbaugh, conservative and Christian talk radio. With the so-called Fairness Doctrine heading to his desk, Obama vowed to use the FCC to further tighten what used to be referred to as the freedom of speech.

And now the Obama administration is reaching the arm of censorship beyond radio into the television airwaves, starting with new … SCREEN TO SNOW.

Yes, I am broke now.....LOL

Swap meet was a very big success. Buy noon Saturday, I had sold all the roosters I took to sell. It was so crowded by noon that it was very difficult to get to the different booths. But otherwise it was a really nice turn out.

I bought a Blue Leghorn Pullet, for my Black and Blue Leghorn breeding program. She is perfect and just what I was looking for. I only paid $5.00 for her, so that was a plus to.

I also bought a pair of Brd. Buff Silkies for mom. She had been looking for some Buff silkies and I found some nice birds (Unusual for Swap Meet). They are not show quality, but they definetly are breeder quality. It looks like we will have a nice flock of silkies come next spring.

My mom also bough a pair of English Angora Rabbits, for her Spinning venture. She got a four year old blonde doe and a year old tortis shell buck. They are so soft!!!! Mom is hoping to start spinning and making clothing here very soon. I have already ordered a scarf and a pair of socks! We will also be breeding them to sell at the Swap Meets and rabbit shows.

So needless to say between me and mom we are now broke! But it was really worth it to get some good birds. I plan on getting some pictures up sometime today or tomorow of all the new aditions.

Swap Meet

Well, I just wanted to post a short note on the Swap Meet.

I just got back from the Swap Meet, while all the venders and sellers were not yet set up, its is a very nice turn out. There are a lot of Rabbits, and Ducks. Not so many chickens, mostly everyone's extra cockerels.......(Me too!)...;-) There are quite a few puppies, goats, Llamas, horses.....ect. Even some skunks???? Yea, don't ask!....lol

If you plan on coming out, I would recommend getting their early, as the lines are going to be long and you are going to have to park a mile away. Also the fee to park is $5.00, so keep that in mind when attending.

Its time for the Lucasville Swap Meet again, October 11th and 12th. It looks like it is going to be a very nice weekend.

Saturday Oct. 11th. Partly Sunny and Nice. High of 83°F, Low of 57°F.
Sunday Oct. 12th. Mostly Sunny and Very Warm. High of 81°F, Low of 58°F.

So if you are planning on coming out, looks like it is going to a very good Swap. I would recommend getting their early, as good weather tends to bring out a very large crowd come noon.

'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.'We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. Hey Ya'll!

Just some more news on the blog. I have added a couple new elements to the blog. Its not done yet, I would love to hear your feedback on what you think would be good to add to the blog. I am thinking of adding a photo album, and a video album. I don't want to have so many pictures on the main blog that it takes two hours to load. So I though a photo album would be faster.

I will also be taking reservations for birds starting in January. I will be breeding SC White Leghorn, Cream Light Brown and Light Brown Dutch bantams, Brd. Splash and Blue Silkies. If your are interesting in purchasing some birds for this coming spring just let me know early.

I will be at the Ohio National show in November and look forward to seing everyone there! Its going to be a very good show, with the Brown Leghorn Nationals.

If anyone knows of where I can get ahold of some SC Black Leghron Bantams please let me know. I have a male and would like two females to start working with the blacks.

Hey all!

I have some news. Due to the recent economic failure, I have decided to discontinue all my credit cards. Due to this I will no longer be able to have a website. So instead, I will be using my Blog as my website. I will upload all my pictures information onto this site. Its free and much easier to use and update. I hope this does not cause to much confusion, as I would rather not have to do all this. But Its another bill I don't have to pay. Everything else will stay the same, the e-mail and such. I will be doing quite a bit of posting the next few days getting everything worked out.

Billy Goats!

Billy Goats!
I don't know how many of you have or have owned billy goats (Intact male goat) but the have a very unique smell! This smell is very potent, with a good 1/4 mile reach. Well, during "rut season" the Bucks (Billy Goats) go through a four to five month cycle were there capable of breeding. Not only do they become more "nasty" but they become more "smelly". There is no way to describe this smell unless you have smelled it. When working with a buck in rut one has to take many precautions, such as.
1. Wear very old clothes, ones you don't care if they need to be thrown away.
2. Some form of mask, to help with the smell.
3. Sturdy disposable gloves.
These are some of the precautions I use prior to handling a billy goat. Once the smell touches any object, be it clothes or skin. The smell can and will linger for up to two days. Even after washing over a dozen times you will still smell the billy goat on you and the clothes.

Keeping this in mind, today was goat de-worming and hoof trimming day. Such a lovely day. I got through all the goats including the does, with right know smell just about as strong as the billy goat. When it came time to get the billy goat out and on to the milk stand for the trimming. The way our pasture is set up, you have to go through the doe pasture to an adjacent pasture were the buck is. Meaning you have to lead the buck through the doe pasture to get to the milk stand. I decided to try and manage this all by myself! As you can imagine it was not a pritty site. I don't mean to brag but I only weigh 105lbs. Were as the billy goat weighs 130lbs. Once I got the lead on his collar I commenced to leading him through the doe pasture. Yea.........right!!!!! It took me about 3 minutes to get to the bottom gate and get it open. Trying to keep all the does from running out, while trying to hold the billy goat with one hand. Once I got through the gate the latch decided that it was going to get stuck and the buck decided he wanted back in the pasture. Weather or not it meant jumping over me to get there....... :-(

Once I got the latch fixed and the buck on the milk stand, I got a nice strong wif of that lovely billy goat smell. Its enough to make your eyes water. I got all of his hooves trimmed but one, the front left. This leg, how can I say it, it's "NASTY". I'm not going to go into detail as to why it is, but its just nasty! Luckily the buck was content just sitting there eating making the process of trimming got quite quickly. While the billy goat was eating I ran and got some help before attempting to put him back in the pasture.

Yes, I did learn my lesson!

After all this, I imediatly whent inside and took a cold shower! As I type this I can still smell the "billy goat smell" on me.....*sigh*. I just love this time of year. But now that its done I don't have to worrie about it till next month. :-) Yea!!!!

I just thought you all might find some hummor in this little story. I know I did, well after it was all over.....lol

Computer Problems and Show Time.

Let me start off by saying that I hate Computers!

They are nothing but trouble....Grrr. About two weeks ago my computer decided it was not going to turn on. The computer being a Dell Laptop at under a year old meaning I was still under warranty until September 1st. Yea, close call!!! Anyways, I contacted Dell, explained the problem and come to find out that my hard drive was done. So they sent me a replacement hard drive and now my computer is up and running again. Sounds good hu? Turns out that when you have to replace a new hard drive all the information that was on the orginial goes with that hard drive. Nedless to say I lost all the information on the old hard drive. I'm currently in the process of sending the old HD of and having a computer store try and retrieve as much information as possible. But If they can't get any information off of it, I have lost everything. I didn't think my brand new computer would crash so soon so I didn't think to make any backup discs. Learned my lesson on that one. Fortunatly, most of the music I had on my MP3 player and I have been able to get all my songs back. But I lost most of my old pictures and documents.... Oh, well I guess this gives me a chance to start new.

Anyways as for the chickens. I have some really nice birds coming along this year. Mostly Leghorns, some dutch and a very nice silkie pullet. I'm really looking forward to this fall show season, since this bunch of birds are the best I have ever owned. I'ts really exciting to know that you are actually winning with birds you have breed, hatched and condition yourself. I'm also looking forward to getting to talk with all the other exhibitors and hopefully clerk for a couple judges. I always learn the most listening to the more experienced breeders and clerking for a judge, its a lot of fun. The first show I will be attending will be the Southern Ohio Poultry Association Annual Fall Show October 4-5th 2008. I look forward to seeing you all there!
